About
Cordelia Wilson is a multi-talented young coloratura soprano. She received her B.M. from Ithaca College with an Outside Field in Theatre, making a point to study multiple artistic disciplines. For her senior recital, Ms. Wilson single-handedly presented a program of opera scenes sung by her peers, which she programmed, cast, directed, produced, and costumed herself. On the same program, she also performed Despina’s aria from Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte.
Ms. Wilson made her opera debut as a chorus member in Opera Ithaca’s 2017 production of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci under the baton of Maestro Thomas Bagwell. Her most recent performance with Opera Ithaca was in Caccini’s La Librazione. Some of her other credits with the company include Pirates of Penzance, Tosca, and Carmen. Most recently, Ms. Wilson joined the chorus for the NJ Festival Orchestra’s production of Pagliacci.
In 2018, Ms. Wilson attended Music Academy International’s young artist program in Italy. She performed her first operatic role that summer at the Trentino Music Festival as La Chouette & Une Pastour in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges.
On the concert stage, Ms. Wilson performed many times with the Ithaca College Chorus & Treble Chorale throughout her studies there. Ms. Wilson also performed Mademoiselle Silberklang’s aria from Der Schauspieldirektor on a recital at Ithaca College.
Ms. Wilson is continuing to grow her experience as a singer and director. Her first credit as an Assistant Director was with the NJ Festival Orchestra for their 2020 double-bill of Pagliacci & Act II of Die Walküre. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Director for The Phoenicia Intl. Festival of the Voice for their production of Tosca, presented as a drive-in experience.
